Key points

What OpenAI announced

Visual ads during image generation: clearly labeled, separate from your image, and OpenAI says they do not change ChatGPT's answers. Text ads started in February; this is the next step.

Who sees them: Free and Go users in the US, as a test with a first group of advertisers.

How to avoid them: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu have no ads. Free users can pick an ads-free option, with lower limits and fewer tools (like image generation).

For businesses: ChatGPT reaches about 1.2 billion people a week. Ads can show at the exact moment someone is thinking about a product.

For freelancers: offer AI product photos + a fast landing page on the client's own domain, ready for any new ad channel.

It is a test, US only for now, with no date for other countries. Do not promise clients results from ChatGPT ads yet.

ChatGPT is about to show ads while it creates your images. OpenAI is testing a new visual ad format for free users in the US. Here's what changes, how to avoid the ads, and why this could be a new chance for small businesses and freelancers. Hey, I'm Adam, and welcome to Build and Earn AI.

Stay for the freelancer part at the end, that's where the money is. Here's what OpenAI announced. A new ad format that appears during image generation. The ads are images, like product ideas or a product in use. They're clearly labeled, they stay separate from the image you're making, and OpenAI says they don't change ChatGPT's answers.

Who sees them? Only Free and Go users in the US, starting as a test with a first group of advertisers. Text ads already started back in February, so this is the next step. How to avoid them. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans don't have ads. Free users can also choose an ads free option, but with lower limits, and some tools like image generation are restricted.

What it means for businesses. ChatGPT reaches about one point two billion people every week. When someone is creating an image of a living room, a furniture ad fits perfectly. This is a new place to reach people at the exact moment they're thinking about a product. Quick question. Will you stay on free with ads, one, or pay to avoid them, two?

Comment one or two. Where freelancers come in. Visual ads need great product images and a landing page to send people to. Small businesses can't do that alone. Offer clean AI product photos and a fast landing page on their own domain, ready for any new ad channel, ChatGPT included. One honest note. This is a test, only in the US for now, and OpenAI hasn't shared a date for other countries.

So don't promise clients results from ChatGPT ads yet. Sell them the images and the landing page, that's useful everywhere.
